Thanks to the fount of knowledge that is @r0bf I discovered that it is a referees’ directive to add 30 seconds stoppage time for each substitution made (though not a ‘rule’ as such). But isn’t that a double edged sword?
Of course, take a couple of minutes and you ‘waste’ the time differential. But if you rush through a sub, could you not ‘gain’ time? An extra 20 seconds maybe, if you are quick?
Interesting to see who will be the first manager to make a sub when 1-0 with a couple of seconds to go…
