A Mark of United’s Decline

We wrote recently of of Man United as a club in decline – see here. But here is real, solid evidence – coincidentally also linked to Leeds…

And that evidence comes in the form of Harry Kewell. Remember him? The dilletante ex-Leeds and Liverpool winger, farmed off to Turkey, a shadow of the player he once was. Well, apparently United want to sign him. One of the biggest clubs in the world signing a Premier League reject on a free transfer. Who is 31. Hardly a statement of intent or a someone that will take the club forward. And another sub-standard winger to add to the ranks.

Michael Owen was one thing – Harry Kewell quite another. United’s transfer activity has been reduced to veterans, past their best, on free transfers. Worrying times indeed.
