Fantasy Picks: 4th/5th April

It seems like an age since the last set of Premiership fixtures; and we’er straight back in at the deep end, with a United’s crucial game against Villa, Liverpool’ tough assignment at Fulham, Shearer’s baptism against Chelsea, and the relegation six pointer at the Hawthorns (against Stoke). Football 365 – A Riposte

Luke Moore – Aston Villa reject, but more damningly a failure at West Brom – has written this piece – http://www.football365.com/story/0,17033,13320_5129821,00.html – entitled ‘Is Owen a Relic of a Bygone Age?’. His point being, football has moved on and there is no place for an out and out goalscorer anymore. Ok, it’s probably not that Luke Moore… but we take issue with his less famous namesake.

The Road to World Cup 2010

Unfortunately not a new incarnation of arguably the greatest PC football sim – FIFA RTWC ’98 – but a look at the situation after last night’s games. There are now no qualifying matches until June, so a long time to stew on a good week (England, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland) a bad one (Wales) or a mediocre one (Scotland)…

Van Der Vaart to Bayern?

We have heard from our Bundesliga contacts that Bayern Munich are close to sealing a deal for Real Madrid’s Rafael Van Der Vaart.

With the Dutchman disillusioned with his lack of opportunities under Juande Ramos in Spain, his previous successful spell in the Bundesliga with Hamburg, and his supermodel widfe’s love for Munich – not to mention Bayern’s need for a replacement for the likely-departing Franck Ribery – this is one very possible murmuring.
