Fantasy Picks 28 Feb/1st Jan

This week, we advise you to ignore us. Not because last week’s selections were particularly bad – Hangeland secured a clean sheet and Carrick scored three (admittedly Arteta getting injured after 5 minutes and now being out for the rest of the season wasn’t ideal – but not really our fault that one) but because this week we’ve only left ourselves six eligible players.

Yes, despite priding ourselves on theam management, picking plays with double gameweeks and a run of easy fixtures, somehow this week our (my) team contains only six players. Yes, 6. Man Utd not having a game was foreseen (automatically losing Carrick, Vidic, and Berbatov) as were the absences of Lennon and Crouch. I was aniticpating two, maybe three transfers. But then the aforementioned Arteta injury happened, and then Bosingwa was booked, making him suspended, then Paintsil was suspended, making him suspended… an all round nightmare.

So this week I’ve made 5 changes to ensure 11 players (or try my best anyway, doubtless a couple won’t start for some reason) but with a nod to the week after, when Fulham, Blackburn, Spurs and Sunderland have two games.

However Spurs and Sunderland don’t have games this week, complicating things further… so eventually we went for:

Hangeland – Home to West Brom this week, then a double gameweek afterwards
Warnock – Playing Hull this week, then a double gameweek – and attacks effectively from full back.
Gamst Pederson – As above; and seems to be vaguely in form at present
Santa Cruz – Pierced fortress United last week, and tends to hit purple patches
Lescott – With Arteta out, wanted an Evertonian to take advantage of their easy run of fixtures.

So there we are – but don’t be surprised if in a couple of weeks you are left with six players…
