It seems an age since we last did these; our last picks were Michael Carrick (11 points) Craig Bellamy (7 points) and John Paintsil (5 points), so pretty successful. Here are our three to watch this weekend…
1. Mikel Arteta
Arteta has been central to Everton’s strong form – the rest of the side have now caught up with him after he single handedly dragged them through the first few games – but he remains the outstanding Toffee, particularly with Cahill suspended. Everton have an excellent run (in) of games, so he’s one to pick and stay with until the end of the season. If you’d prefer a defender, Phil Jagielka may be worth a look.
2. Brede Hangeland
We have picked him previously, but in case you do not have him, sign him now. Fulham are home to West Brom this weekend (they have an excellent record at Craven Cottage) and also have a double gameweek coming up. Hangeland’s giant frame also poses a threat from set-pieces, and he is relatively inexpensive.
3. Michael Carrick
Again, we picked him last time out – but on the off chance you ignored us, make amends this week. Carrick is in excellent form and scoring a lot of points, and provides an superb cut-price option in your midfield, particularly as he has recently begun taking more set pieces. A point to note, though – United have a bye next week so be wary of stocking up on their players.
