   How the tide turns.

   After beating Newcastle he was being hailed as a future replacement for Alex Ferguson and now he decides to walk away from Sunderland!

   I think it suggests that his appetite is not there as was suggested of him while at Utd and then Celtic. Its difficult for Sunderland as they have thrown so much money and support behind him.

   The players we signed were sold on his vision for our future so it could now spell curtains for our top flight survival. We need to get a good high profile manager in ASAP as the likes of Cisse, Chimbonda and Diouf will not take this news well.

   @Jhon: It does seem strange – but also odd that lots of people (not you!) are calling him a serial bottler – he only played for 3 clubs in his career, and has managed one – hardly repeatedly bailing.

   I do agree with you, however, that his may have lost his appetite for the game. The challenges he has walked away from have all been relatively recent.

   Although he did a great job getting you up, some of his signings have been severely questionable; Chopra and Diouf particularly. He seems to sign players for inflated fees, then cast them aside when he decides he doesn’t fancy them.

   I think the only serious candidate for the job is Sam Allardyce. A struggling Premiership team, based in the north, players than need discipline – I think he will be salivating at the prospect.
