Andrew/Andy Cole has announced his retirement, bringing down the curtain on a distinguished career that puts him second on the list of all time Premiership top goalscorers (behind Alan Shearer and ahead of Fowler, Wright and Ferdinand). In line with his sullen, moody character (him and Teddy Sheringham famously never spoke) his final departure was acrimonious, leaving his hometown club Nottingham Forest amidst animosity and controversy.
But remembering him as a goalscorer rather than a maker of friends (and certainly not a musician) he has been an immense success. His full goalscoring record:

Apparently continuing in the game, possibly alongside old teammate Paul Ince at Blackburn, has been mooted; I’m not sure how good his infamously querolous poersonality would be behind the scenes…
