But an entertaining game nonetheless. End to end stuff – WBA struggled hugely in the first half but brought on Ismael Miller at half time and were a team transformed for the second 45 minutes. Newcastle, from serenely sailing along at 2-0, became jittery and nervy, and WBA could easily have equalised on another day.

However, you have to ask, with all West Brom’s attractive football, sideways passing and pretty buildup, if they can’t score more than one against Newcastle, who can they score against?
