Goals and excitement in the Tuesday games – torpor and boredom in the Wednesday ones. The highlight fro mthe games s above was Ronaldo making his long awaited and desperately needed comeback for Utd – they have lacked penetration and imagination in his absence, and immediately looked more likely to break the deadlock when he came one.

Celtic were unlucky – Barry Robson missed a penalty that would ahve put them in a decent position in the group. Their opponents, Aalborg, are managed by Bruce Rioch, the ex-Arsenal manager – he seems to have aged by about 40 years since then though.
